Salsa music has a sound all of its own originating in Cuba and Puerto Rico, while becoming popular in the United States in the 1970's. Salsa music is hot, sexy and sultry with loud beats that complement Salsa dancing perfectly. Buena Vista Social Club

Buena Vista Social Club

This fabulous CD is a special edition that features a cardboard sleeve which is unusual for CD's. The CD has fourteen superb classic Salsa tracks to get you moving, that were originally released back in 1997, along with a free forty eight page booklet of lyrics written in both English and Spanish. The music sounds effortless and whisks us away to Cuba where we can envisage ourselves tapping our feet in some retro Cuban café.

The musicians playing were rediscovered in Cuba back in 1997 by Ry Cooder himself a talented guitarist of many years standing. The title of the album Buena Vista Social Club is named after a former music club in Cuba that has long since gone therefore the mere title conjures up nostalgia for those of us who love to learn about the origins of Salsa.

Those who have a passion for Salsa music will definitely want to buy this CD to add to their collection. Some of the tracks are hauntingly beautiful while the musicians shine as some of the most talented we have listened to. Whether you are a fan of pop, heavy metal, rock, reggae, hip hop or any other genre we guarantee you will enjoy listening to this classic Salsa collection as an alternative choice.

The CD features forty fabulous Salsa inspired tracks from contemporary artists including Shakira, Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Justin Timberlake and the amazing Carlos Santana a personal favourite, with a few oldies thrown in for good measure. Older tunes featured on the album are provided by the late Perry Como and Elvis Presley.

It's certainly a feel good CD but not what you would describe as hard core.
